colorblock shorts.

colorblock shorts.

Elliott has developed a strong allegiance to the color green. Owen has a favorite color (blue), but I don't remember it ever reaching this point of obsession, like Elliott for green. They are all different, these kids. colorblock shorts. And so when I asked him what he'd like me to sew him, he of course responded "shorts! GREEN shorts!" We made a special trip to the fabric store for the green jersey, and the waistband is the hem edge from an old shirt of mine. It's so spandexy I didn't even need to add elastic, a special bonus. I used a twin needle for all the stitching so they should hold up well. Which is good, because I think they'll be worn constantly. They came straight off the machine and on to his legs; I couldn't even get them off him for a laid-flat shot, for gosh sake's. he likes to wear them up high, maternity style. when he first tried them on he wanted to wear them all hitched up with his shorts tucked in, and they looked just like maternity clothes. weird but pretty funny.

There are great!! How did it go with the double needle. I need more details on that for sure. They look amazing and I'm guessing (if your boys are like my boys) that you could make 5 more pairs and be done with summer clothing acquisition!

thanks, all! i know what you mean about wanting a pair, rachael.

melissa, the double needle works pretty well--I tested on some scrap fabric and still had to rip at least one seam that got funky. But the rest went smoothly, and it looks pretty sharp. Pay extra attention to holding your thread tails out of the way if you try it.
