Elliott has developed a strong allegiance to the color green. Owen has a favorite color (blue), but I don't remember it ever reaching this point of obsession, like Elliott for green. They are all different, these kids. And so when I asked him what he'd like me to sew him, he of course responded "shorts! GREEN shorts!" We made a special trip to the fabric store for the green jersey, and the waistband is the hem edge from an old shirt of mine. It's so spandexy I didn't even need to add elastic, a special bonus. I used a twin needle for all the stitching so they should hold up well. Which is good, because I think they'll be worn constantly. They came straight off the machine and on to his legs; I couldn't even get them off him for a laid-flat shot, for gosh sake's. when he first tried them on he wanted to wear them all hitched up with his shorts tucked in, and they looked just like maternity clothes. weird but pretty funny.
